We've all heard of the four core subjects. Of course, they are important.
But, there is so much more that young people need and want. Personalization is very hard to accomplish in settings of 25 or more students inside four walls. Talk to us about providing more variation and personalization for you.
We meet your educational needs where you are - on your phone, your computer, your app, and your printer. It should not be mind-dulling, but knowledge-inspiring!
We wlecome you to the Pinnacle Scholars experience! We strive hard to prepare each young person with a number of paths for them to cross the finish line with their diplomas.
Why scale down the number of courses taken at a time?
Studying, retaining, and producing evidence that knowledge has been accumulated takes time, about 100 hours. Schools typically divide this over two semesters of about 16 weeks. But, retention is a problem if the learning is drawn out over too much time. By concentrating the number of hours in a six-week period of time retention is better. By limiting the amount of time for learning and the number of feilds to learn simultaneously, knowledge can be accumulated and demonstrated with much more ease.
How do I organize my time to get the work done?
People are different, so organizing time will reflect your preferences. Some people really like starting at a beginning time and working non-stop to a logical place to stop. After a short break, they then work non-stop to their next logical stopping point or until the assignment is done. Other people know they work best in short spurts. They plan their time around 45-minute or one hour increments of time. They take 30-minute to 2 hour breaks between their work times, but work in spurts up to 10 hours. A few people like to work eveings or nights. They will sleep in their least productive times and work hard during their most alert times. It's up to you to organize your time, but it you will receive suggestions on how to orgainzie it if you are having trouble.
Can I use these courses to add to my home school transcript?
You certainly can. You will be guided by a teacher while you take your course, and you will be turning in assignments to that teacher. You will have 3 interviews with your teacher during your 8 weeks to demonstrate your knowledge as well. The course you take is a true course of study, so you can add it to what you are doing with your other home school courses. You can use our courses to add to your course load in order to graduate early, or you can use our courses to explore subjects not available to you in your home school. You may even like the way you learn in Pinnacle Scholars that you would want to incorporate a number of courses while you are working on graduating.
One of the most and long-standing traditions in education has been testing. How else does someone show the increase in knowledge?
Of course, that thinking still exists. But it shouldn't. Not only has education itself developed new methods of showing knowledge, but the internet has given us a number of additional ways to demonstrate that someone has accumulated knowledge. Combining the developments in education, technology, and learning science, testing should never be at the forefront as a way of showing that learning has taken place.
Pinnacle Scholars uses nearly all of the available modes of illustrating knowledge so that students can learn unimpeded from the aannoyance and mistaken notion that learning has happened because they took a test.
